Your New Favorite Pizza Crust

There’s something about homemade pizza night that just hits different. When my kids were little, pizza was our Friday night tradition.
Everyone got to pick a topping, sometimes they even helped roll the dough (which usually meant flour everywhere).
But the secret was always in the crust. It had to be soft and fluffy with just enough flavor to make you forget it didn’t come from a box. This one has a little garlic, a little butter, and a whole lot of love.
It's the perfect base for whatever your family’s favorite toppings are.
Make it once, and I promise you’ll never go back to frozen.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (warmed to 105 °F)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ packet instant yeast ≈ 2½ tsp
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (+ extra for kneading)
  • Cooking spray or softened butter (to grease bowl & pan)
  • Sauce, toppings, and cheese of choice

Equipment

  • 1 2-cup microwave-safe measuring glass
  • 1 Candy thermometer
  • 1 Mixing bowl & stand mixer (optional)
  • 1 Wooden spoon or dough hook
  • 1 Pizza pan
  • 1 Fork
  • Plastic wrap

Method

  1. Pizza CrustIn a microwaveable 2 cup measuring glass, add 1 cup of milk and warm to 105 degrees (check with candy thermometer for accuracy) which is generally 1 minute and 10 seconds in a standard Microwave. While milk is warm, add 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tsp garlic powder, 2 tsp of Italian Seasoning. Stir until butter is slightly melted. Then add 1/2 pkg or 2 1/2 tsp of instant yeast. Continue to stir until yeast is mostly dissolved. Pour mixture into a mixing bowl. Turn on low and add two cups of flour. Once the flour in incorporated the dough will seem a little wet. Turn dough out onto a flour surface and knead for 2 to 3 minutes. Spray a small amount of cooking spray in a large bowl, enough to coat sides of bowl so the dough doesn't stick while rising (you can use butter instead of cooking spray if you choose). Put dough ball into bowl, roll over once to make sure ball is coated. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and put in a warm place for 45 minutes or until dough doubles in size. Preheat over to 400 degrees. Remove plastic wrap, pull dough from bowl and place on greased pizza pan. Using your hands stretch the dough to fit the pizza pan. Take a fork and gently pierce the dough to help with air bubbles that can form when it heats up. Add your favorite sauces, topping and cheese - you can't go wrong, it is pizza. Place in 400 degree heated oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and let it rest for 1 minute, remove from pan, cut and enjoy!
I love this and I know you will too because it is a flavored crust, no boring taste here!
The crust is fluffy and fresh, not chewy and thick like frozen pizza crust.
    Enjoy!
