Homemade Cornbread

Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup of cornmeal NOT cornmeal mix
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 T sugar
  • 4 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Method
 

  1. In a pan place 2 T of bacon grease, place in oven to soften as oven preheats to 400 degrees.
  2. Once bacon grease has liquified, remove from oven.
  3. In a large bowl, combine dry and wet ingredients.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Once mixed, pour in the pan with bacon grease.
  6. Place back in preheated oven to cook for 20 minutes.
  7. Once cooked, remove from oven, allow to sit for 3 minutes and turn out onto a serving place to cool.
